True or False?
According to Jesus, many think they are ‘in the faith’; think they are saved; think they are Christians, but in fact, are not. Upon death, these will not see Heaven, but to their horror – Hell.
Jesus spoke more about Hell than He did about Heaven.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. ~Matt 7:13-14
Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? ~Luke 6:46
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ ~Matt 7:21-23
It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment…will you be found True or False? Many, according to this verse, call Jesus Lord, prophesy in His name, drive out demons and perform many miracles. And yet Jesus, on the day of judgment will not recognize them as part of His Church. They are hypocrites, the Greek word is actor (or pretender).
Peter says to ‘be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure’ (2Pet.1:10). Paul warns us to ‘work out our salvation with fear and trembling’ (Phil 2:12). And again ‘Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.’ (2 Corinthians 13:5).
Are you ‘in the faith’?
God, the Father, does want you to be unsure about whether you are truly saved. He wants to give you assurance through His Word, the Bible. He wants you to know! In fact, that’s why John, the Apostle, wrote the letter of First John. Near the end of the letter,
he writes:
I write these things to you who believe in the name
of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. ~1 John 5:13
You MUST do two things in order to be saved:
REPENT of your sins – once and for all. Turn away from sin and turn to God. Agree with God that you’ve sinned against Him. Apologize to God. Ask God to forgive you.
He promises to do it!
TRUST alone in Jesus to save you–the way you’d trust in a parachute – completely! Don’t trust in your good works to save you. Heaven cannot be
earned…it’s a free gift.
Read your Bible every day and obey what you read.
